“Commvault has enhanced my skillset with a real-world education that can’t be taught in classrooms or online,” said senior Eric Chang, who was part of the mentorship program at Commvault in the spring of 2015 and will be attending Carnegie Mellon this Fall to continue his education. “As a Spring mentee, the experience working at Commvault has given me the self-confidence to tackle challenging application development and coding projects both independently and within a team structure, which will stay with me throughout my career path as I pursue a degree in electrical and computer engineering.”
Since its inception in 2012, the Commvault HTHS Scholarship Award program has bestowed more than $75,000 in scholarships, 19 internships, and 18 mentee positions. The program represents a yearly culmination of collaboration between Commvault and High Technology High School, a four-year Monmouth County Vocational School and pre-engineering career academy located in Lincroft, New Jersey. As part of its internship and mentoring program, students can gain a hands-on experience across several company departments, including software development, data analysis and legal.
“Commvault recognizes that the next generation of innovators, like the students here at High Technology High School, will be the ones to shape the future of business, science, and technology and has taken the initiative to play an active role in nurturing this talent as a way of giving back to its community,” said Kevin Bals, Principal, High Technology High School. “We are proud to partner with Commvault on this special endeavor through their continued support and investment in these students’ future.”
Recipients of the fourth annual HTHS Scholarship Award were selected based on written essay submissions and an aptitude test conducted by Commvault. The scholarship award winners will be eligible to receive the $2,500 amount and paid internship for each of the four (4) years of college, provided they keep up good grades and do as well as expected during their summer internships.
“We’re honored to support these students’ passion for information technology – and feel they embody and fuel the values of our company – passion, innovation, integrity, collaboration, respect and execution,” said Jesper Helt, vice president, chief human resources officer, Commvault. “Today’s announcement of our scholarship recipients is very special to us because it represents the first time in the four year history of this program that we are able to welcome these winning students to our beautiful new campus on the former Fort Monmouth property in Tinton Falls.”
