VMWorld 2017: Learning How to Control Your Virtualized Environments

Posted 08/21/2017 by Dave Orban

Are you responsible for leading your firm’s virtualization software strategy?  If so, chances are that both your flight and hotel have long been booked for VMworld 2017, taking place less than two weeks away in “what happens there, stays there.” land. Of course, we mean Las Vegas, Nev.

As a longtime VMworld Platinum Sponsor, Commvault this year will be focusing on one of the key problems with which many of you are already dealing with. It is one that we hear about daily from senior-level IT execs, infrastructure architects, LoB owners and others responsible for leading digital transformations. In other words, “How do you gain control over your VMs, while adding the varied new infrastructure that’s required to accelerate that transformation?” More important, how do you do it, while still managing, protecting and securing all of the data that’s driving that transformation?

When you visit booth No. 606, you’ll be able to see firsthand how the Commvault Data Platform can provide a solid foundation for solving that problem. As the industry’s most comprehensive data platform (and the only unified one), Commvault greatly simplifies managing your increasingly complex mix of infrastructure types and destinations. It easily scales to accommodate your continually-expanding data trove, and it provides you with the power to control all of your VMs, applications and – most important – the data that is the lifeblood of your operations. In fact, with the Commvault Data Platform, you’ll be able to manage, secure, encrypt, protect and access all your data - regardless of whether it resides on-premises, in the cloud, or on any other infrastructure, anywhere.

We’ll be conducting several in-booth mini-theater presentations that will show how you can gain control over your virtual environment, your infrastructure and your data. There will be sessions on Disaster Recovery for Virtualized Environments; Virtualization into the Cloud; Commvault’s new Virtualization Admin Console; and a closer look at A Day in The life of a VM Admin. We’ll also be doing a deep dive with a couple of breakout sessions, including:

Hyperconverged Infrastructure #STO3320BUSH:

Monday, Aug. 28, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Presented by:

  •         Jonathan Howard, Director, Technology & Engineering Alliances, Commvault Systems

Abstract: Hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) is a virtual computing platform that natively converges compute, virtualization and storage into a single software-defined architecture. It introduces unprecedented flexibility and scalability into your IT environment. But that flexibility and scalability also adds complexity. We will look at the challenges presented by the hyperconverged environment, along with best practices for protecting and managing your data, using a scale-out architecture for flexibility and choice. You will learn how our simple integrated platform seamlessly extends data protection and disaster recovery into the public cloud, providing coverage for all of your workloads. This session includes a demo.

Move, Manage, Use: The New Hybrid IT (#MMC3321BUS)

Tuesday, Aug. 29, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Presented by:

  •         Don Foster, Senior Director, Solutions Marketing, Commvault
  •         Deepak Verma, Director, Virtualization, Commvault

Abstract: For all the talk you hear about infrastructure, we believe that your data is actually far more important. Enough so that your primary focus should be on how you move, manage, use and protect that data. By extending your data center to the cloud, you can manage that data more efficiently, and develop a more strategic, customer-focused business. But migrating data and workloads across multiple environments - including the cloud - introduces risk, cost and an assortment of technical challenges. We’ll discuss how to efficiently move, manage and use that data in hybrid cloud environments. We will also discuss how to automate disaster recovery and testing to the cloud. And you will learn how to reduce the cost and risk associated with managing data in the cloud. This session includes a hybrid cloud demo.

We hope you’ll be able to check out one or both of our breakout sessions. Be sure to swing by and take part in one of the mini-theater presentations (below) being held in our booth:

  •         The Commvault Virtualization Admin Console: An Overview
  •         Disaster Recovery for Virtualized Environments
  •         A Day in the Life of a VM Admin
  •         Virtualization into the Cloud

There’ll also be informative presentations from our partners Cisco, Nutanix, and PureStorage.

Need more information? We’ll also have technical product experts at our booth to provide hands-on demos and whiteboard sessions highlighting the powerful features of Commvault’s industry-leading software. They will answer any of your questions.

In addition to learning useful information on how to scale-out your data management and protection services, extend your data centers to the cloud, and protect your data in a hyperconverged environment, attendees will also have a shot at winning a pair of Bose Wireless Headphones! And each mini-theater presentation will afford participants an opportunity to win a Google Chromecast! But win or lose, you’ll all leave our booth armed with knowledgethat can help you accelerate your firm’s digital transformation, yet still maintain complete control of your VMs, your infrastructure and your data in the process.

Finally, be on the lookout for our daily schedule of presentations and other events, which will be shared across our social channels each morning of the show.

Look forward to seeing you there!
