The 2020 IT World winners have been announced, and Commvault has racked up a gold award and two silvers. Miranda Foster, Commvault’s vice president of worldwide communications, won gold for Communications or PR Executive of the Year, Information Technology; Metallic won silver for New Product-Service of the Year, IT Cloud/SaaS; and Commvault Complete Backup and Recovery (v11) was chosen as the silver winner for Enterprise Data Loss Prevention.

So what makes Commvault’s executives and technology stand out?

Miranda Foster, VP of Worldwide Communications, and one FEARLESS leader

Foster was named Communications or PR Executive of the Year for leadership in what was a very busy year: the transition to a new CEO and other senior hires; our first acquisition (Hedvig); the launch of a new SaaS venture (Metallic); the announcement of a major strategic partnership (Microsoft); and a broad corporate transformation to position Commvault as a company building on its rich history of data protection and management.

Commvault

My friend and our VP of Products, Ranga Rajagopalan, says it best: “The new Commvault is an innovation machine.” We’re constantly expanding our cloud optimization to new platforms, recognizing and addressing threats such as ransomware and overall enabling our customers to meet all the challenges that come with protecting data in today’s IT environments. We’re very honored that IT World has recognized these accomplishments. These innovations build on Commvault’s existing market-leading support for backup and recovery of files, applications, databases, hypervisors, and the wide support for cloud, including Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Metallic

IT managers’ budgets and staffs are getting squeezed, they consistently have to do more with less and they need to be agile to support their companies through unforeseen circumstances. They need simple subscription pricing. And, given the growing value of their data, their diverse environments and the rising number of cyber security threats, they need all this with proven enterprise-grade technology. Metallic is an extremely compelling SaaS offering that meets these needs – and it’s clear that IT World agrees.

Launched in 2019, Metallic won in its category because it delivers proven capabilities to companies from mid-market to enterprise, by combining Commvault’s leading technology with SaaS delivery for a simple solution that mitigates data loss across Office 365, laptops and desktops, VMs, file server and SQL server data. With Metallic, IT managers can nimbly recover lost files, reduce downtime by quickly recovering data locked by a ransomware attack, and safeguard remote workers’ endpoints. They can stop spending hours waiting for a backup to complete. They can scale their data protection seamlessly to petabytes. And they can start doing this in as little as 15 minutes, thanks to onboarding with pre-configured backup and recovery plans.

So what does all this winning mean? Quite simply, Commvault has award-winning leadership and technology that our customers trust. In today’s flooded data protection market, Commvault has risen to the top with the 2020 IT World awards.
