HPE’s Industry Leadership On Full Display At HPE Discover Virtual Experience

By Mark Bridges

If you missed any of the recent HPE Discover Virtual Experience, you obviously didn’t notice one of the “best of the best” of the 2020 virtual events. While we’re all forced to quickly turn events planned for large face-to-face audiences to virtual delivery, HPE did more than just pivot. It capitalized and delivered a highly engaging experience with a powerful theme, thought leadership and action steps for customers.

HPE welcomed us all to the age of insights

Antonio Neeri set the tone as he kicked things off with his day one keynote, welcoming all of us to the next phase of digital transformation – the age of insights. He shared how data analysis needs to be happening everywhere, in the cloud, at the edge – wherever data lives. He talked in detail about the new mandate of “cloud everywhere” and that HPE is ready to accelerate all of this for its customers, and to quickly use automation to gain the insights data holds.

HPE: The cloud services and software company

Talk about turning the world upside down. While many traditionally think of HPE as “the” hardware player, Antonio made it clear that it is a cloud services and software company. As I listened to Antonio and his powerful message, I started thinking, “What great foresight on HPE’s part. Looking at us right now in the middle of the pandemic, the need for what [it is] already delivering on – not just talking about – is the ideal response to a world in the midst of tumultuous change.”

Everything as a service provides the flexibility the market needs – right now

As the Discover sessions unfolded, it became apparent that there are several facets to the age of insights. It’s not only the insights gained from data but also automation applied to drive action from these insights, automation forcing public clouds into a more open model with things like Cloud Volumes, and data protection as a service (delivered through GreenLake). It’s about intelligent hyperconverged infrastructure – available as a service (when this fits the customer’s business model) – to drive accelerated transformation, and gain and apply insights instantaneously for better business outcomes. Truly delivering to customers what they need, when they need it, in the way they want to consume it.

Reflecting on HPE Discover and what I’ve learned from it makes me proud that Commvault was recognized during the Discover event as the HPE Momentum Storage Partner of the Year 2020. The goal of our alliance with HPE (and integration across the complete HPE storage portfolio) is to enhance and extend all HPE data management and data protection capabilities, help our joint customers transform quicker, solve their most critical business (and technology issues) faster; also to create an enhanced world of actionable data insights with our combined technologies, experience and commitment to customer success.
