This past week, my 14 year-old daughter participated as part of the Global Climate Strike in Philadelphia. It was inspiring to see her and so many people around the world mobilizing in advance of this week’s UN’s Climate Action Summit. It is a sign of what’s possible, a show of solidarity, and gives us hope that together we can be a force.
This week is Global Goals Week, an annual event that brings together governments, businesses, individuals, international organizations, civil society and others during the United Nations General Assembly.
At Commvault, we are committed to showing leadership. One small opportunity this week is our proud sponsorship of the Exponential Roadmap launch Monday night in New York City. The Exponential Roadmap lays out, as the name suggests, a roadmap for how existing digital technology can help. The Roadmap covers how to accelerate the 36 solutions required to slash greenhouse gas emissions 50 percent by 2030. For Commvault, this hits close to home as we work to both leverage data and help manage the data carbon footprint together with our customers and partners around the world. Responsible data management is part of the change we must drive – as today many individual data centers around the world rely on fossil fuels.
Taking this to the next level, we are also incredibly honored to part of an upcoming (soon to be announced) effort by a consortium of leading companies working with the Global Goals organization, targeting 17 goals for a better world by 2030. Taking action on these goals has the power to end poverty, fight inequality and stop climate change.
We are excited to be a part of this dynamic, global effort, which brings together technology innovators, scientists, companies and non-governmental organizations to address ways specific industries can work to achieve the Global Goals. More to come!
