The post-EHR era was on full display (in augmented, virtual and actual reality!) in Las Vegas, as more than 45,000 healthcare IT professionals convened to share, learn and dream at HIMSS18.
An informal poll by Healthcare IT News prior to the conference revealed what attendees were most looking forward to at the conference: Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain dominated. And the conference delivered: AI is very much a reality in the healthcare IT space.
Although the progress and promise of these technologies portend significant transformations to the way patient care will soon be delivered (or, perhaps more appropriately, how the “ fourth industrial revolution ” will unfold), one constant challenge persists – data. Specifically, access to the breadth and quality of data necessary for these technologies to achieve their true potential.
At Commvault, we recognize this challenge as leaders in the protection and management of data. We used our platform at the conference to showcase how we are advancing our mission to help healthcare organizations better manage their data.
We announced an exciting partnership with Mercy Technology Services, where we will power its new healthcare cloud disaster recovery and backup as a service (DR and BaaS) solution. As Ananth Balasubramanian, general manager of Commvault’s Healthcare Solutions Group said, this partnership will “help hospitals get the latest in data protection technologies while eliminating hassles of onsite disk and tape backup; plus, they shrink the costs and risks associated with backing up data on in-house infrastructure.”
We also highlighted exciting news around Commvault’s EHR data protection solution. Our Epic EHR Data Protection solution was ranked as the only data backup and recovery solution to earn the highest rating from Epic in all categories. Likewise, Intersystems has identified Commvault as a “Preferred” platform that is highly recommended and has been thoroughly tested for performance, availability and operations for both TrakCare and HealthShare.
And, in partnership with Pure Storage, our certified MEDITECH EHR Data Protection solution was selected as the “best solution” to protect both MEDITECH EHR and enterprise data at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System in California.
Finally, we announced partnerships with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and MEDITECH South Africa to make it easier than ever for healthcare organizations to take advantage of Commvault solutions.
Adrienne Boissy, chief experience officer at Cleveland Clinic Health System, encouraged the industry to “dream bigger” during her opening keynote at the HIMSS18 Patient Engagement & Experience Summit. The healthcare IT industry must ensure that these dreams, and the technological developments that inspire them, do not overlook the critical importance of the data that is required for them to make the leap to reality. Commvault will continue to build the solutions and partnerships necessary to advance the strategic role of data in the delivery of patient care and transformation of the healthcare industry.
