Award recognizes Kolappan’s leadership and Commvault’s commitment to IT innovation
Tinton Falls, NJ – November 13, 2015 – Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT) today announced that Rama Kolappan, senior director and head of Commvault’s information & mobility management business unit, has been named a 2016 Computerworld Premier 100 Technology Leader by IDG’s Computerworld. This year’s Premier 100 spotlights 100 leaders from both the technology and business sides of companies for their exceptional technology leadership and innovative approaches to business challenges.
A visionary with extensive expertise in enterprise mobility, mobile security, cloud and content management, Kolappan was one of several new strategic hires as part of the Commvault Next initiative, the company’s business transformation for sales, go-to-market strategies, pricing and packaging and technology innovation. Since joining Commvault last year, he has helped the company transform its business unit structure to align innovation with customer needs in the area of information & mobility management. Kolappan will continue this role as the company enters a new chapter of innovation and growth through the recent unveiling of Commvault’s next generation integrated solution portfolio, including software products, the Commvault Data Platform and services.
"The Premier 100 awards program showcases the strategic thinking of an elite group of IT leaders who are using technology to digitally transform their organizations,” said Scot Finnie, editor-in-chief, Computerworld. “These dedicated executives are creating nimble IT organizations to respond quickly to today's business needs, and to the influx of technologies such as cloud computing, the Internet of Things, social media, mobile and wearables. They are actively recruiting talented IT pros for their departments and grooming them to take on new roles. They're also constantly adjusting their risk management strategies to align with the evolving security landscape.”
“I’m honored to be recognized by Computerworld and share this accomplishment within my business unit and the talented individuals I work alongside each day,” said Kolappan. “This award is reflective of a larger trend within the organization to adapt to IT’s evolving role from cost and risk management tools to true business transformation.”
“We are proud of the pioneering work Rama has accomplished within our information and mobility management business unit,” said N. Robert Hammer, CEO, Commvault “Having a Computerworld Premier 100 Technology Leader on our team is a major achievement for the entire organization and we look forward to the team’s continued innovative work in the coming year.”

About the Premier 100 Technology Leadership Awards: The Premier 100 program was created in 2000 to spotlight individuals who have had a positive impact on their organizations through technology. These are individuals who manage internal IT organizations, mentor and motivate their IT teams and business colleagues, create a positive work environment, envision innovative solutions to business challenges and effectively manage and execute IT strategies. Each year, nominees are invited to complete a questionnaire that addresses a number of topics, including their background and experience and their attitude toward risk and innovation. Using Computerworld’s IT Leader Index, which is a measurement of how closely an individual matches our definition of the IT Leader, we analyze the data. Each year, 100 honorees are selected to receive this life-time recognition award. Information on previous honorees can be viewed at: www.computerworld.com/s/article/9065479/Premier_100_IT_Leaders
