Humbled, Proud & Energized to build on our latest Microsoft Recognitionby Randy DeMeno

Last week, we learned that CommVault was awarded the 2014 Microsoft Server Platform Partner of the Year award. This marks the second time in four years that we’ve garnered this highly coveted recognition, another milestone in our successful 15+ year partnership with Microsoft.

In addition to highlighting CommVault Simpana software’s data protection, management and access solution on Windows “on-premise,” whether physical or virtual, CommVault’s ability to strategically integrate with Microsoft Azure Compute and Azure Storage capabilities was a vital component of our selection this year.

Microsoft has a compelling offering with its Azure Compute and Storage capabilities and CommVault will continue to enhance, embrace and add value for our customers whether they’re using all on-prem, hybrid or all-Azure data.

The definition of platform has evolved and now includes the cloud with Microsoft Azure and/or “on-premise” infrastructures. CommVault Simpana software is uniquely positioned to enable efficient and simple protection, provisioning, archiving, eDiscovery, and anywhere access. Together with smart, intuitive storage – this is today’s definition of “Server Platform.”

CommVault software’s capabilities were on full display at the recent TechEd/North America event in Houston where I shared a general session stage with Microsoft’s Mike Opal and CommVault’s David Ngo to take attendees on a “past, present, future” journey through changes in data management and CommVault. Mike made a compelling statement about “Internet Connected Devices” and the explosion in data growth (such as millions of cows creating data based on their movements and feed strategy). I demonstrated how to easily use Azure as a storage device, and David outdid me with an “all Azure, all the time” example that even included Simpana software managing on-premise data from Azure Compute.

We celebrate our award recognition today, but since the bar is constantly being raised, tomorrow it is back to work as we endeavor to bring this award home again next year.
