Afin de célébrer le Mois du patrimoine hispanique au sein de notre communauté mondiale Vaulter, nos groupes de ressources pour les employés (ERG) « Multiculture » et « Femmes dans la technologie » ont organisé un événement virtuel riche en enseignements et en inspiration, avec la participation de l’auteure de renom Patricia Engel.
Patricia, a New York Times bestselling author, graced our Vaulter community with a keynote address that highlighted how her Colombian heritage and culture have shaped her worldview and influenced her celebrated writing career. Patricia treated us to a reading from her latest book, The Faraway World, a captivating collection of stories that explore the themes of belonging, migration, and identity.
Au cours de la conversation, Patricia a fait part de réflexions très personnelles sur son enfance au sein d’un foyer biculturel dans le New Jersey. Elle a expliqué en quoi les contrastes entre l’éducation colombienne qu’elle recevait à la maison et la société américaine à l’extérieur avaient façonné tant sa vision du monde que son écriture.
Patricia a souligné l’importance de sa communauté d’immigrés en tant que source de résilience et d’inspiration, évoquant les complexités liées à l’identité, au sentiment d’appartenance et aux sacrifices consentis par ceux qui quittent leur pays d’origine à la recherche d’un avenir meilleur.
