Throughout May, we’ve celebrated Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month across our global Vaulter community with open dialogues and educational initiatives hosted by our Multi-Culture Employee Resource Group (ERG) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team.

AAPI Heritage Month celebrates the global contributions, achievements, and cultural heritage of Asian and Pacific Islanders, including our Vaulters who identify as Asian and Pacific Islander. It’s a time to recognize the diverse cultures, histories, and experiences of AAPI communities and their significant impact on American society and beyond. This year’s theme, selected by the Federal Asian Pacific American Council, was “Advancing Leaders Through Opportunity,” which builds on a leadership advancement theme series that began in 2021.

The AAPI communities include a rich history of cultures, traditions, and experiences, intersecting in many ways, and consist of 50 distinct ethnic groups, speaking over 100 languages – with connections to Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Hawaiian, and other Asian and Pacific Islander ancestries. Within these diverse groups, intersections emerge through shared values, struggles, and aspirations. Whether it’s the convergence of languages, traditions, or migration stories, these intersections foster solidarity and unity, while also highlighting the unique challenges that different segments of the AAPI population face. From the common threads of discrimination and prejudice to the celebration of cultural heritage and achievements, these intersections serve as focal points for dialogue, collaboration, and advocacy, driving the collective pursuit of equity, representation, and empowerment.

Zum Abschluss des AAPI-Monats veranstalteten wir eine virtuelle Veranstaltung, bei der unsere Vaulters ihr Wissen auf die Probe stellten, faszinierende Fakten entdeckten und in einem lebhaften Quiz miteinander in Kontakt traten – eine einzigartige und spannende Möglichkeit, das kulturelle Erbe Asiens und des Pazifikraums kennenzulernen und zu würdigen. Die Einbindung unserer Vaulters in diese Aktivitäten fördert ein Gefühl der Inklusion, Wertschätzung und des Verständnisses für die vielfältige Kultur der Menschen aus Asien und den Pazifischen Inseln am Arbeitsplatz.

Die Schaffung eines Raums für offenen Dialog und Reflexion für AAPI-Mitglieder fördert gegenseitigen Respekt, Empathie und Solidarität unter den AAPI-Vaulters und ihren Gemeinschaften. Unser Ziel hier bei Commvault ist es, ein inklusiveres und unterstützendes Arbeitsumfeld zu fördern, in dem sich jeder aufgrund seines einzigartigen Hintergrunds und seiner Identität wertgeschätzt und anerkannt fühlt.

We often hear about the importance of diversity in terms of race, gender, age, and ethnicity. However, there is another type of diversity that is just as crucial to cultivate in today’s workplaces – neurodiversity. In honor of April being Neurodiversity Awareness Month, I wanted to share more about this topic and how we’re exploring it at Commvault.

I’m a proud member of our CapAbilities Employee Resource Group (ERG), which is focused on raising awareness and breaking down the bias of workplace issues that affect people with disabilities and/or caregivers of those with a disability.

Neurodiversity refers to the variation in how people think and process information. It covers conditions like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other neurological or cognitive differences. People who are considered “neurodivergent” have neurocognitive functioning that diverges from what is considered neurotypical or “normal.” At Commvault, we celebrate this diversity of minds and recognize that neurodivergent individuals bring unique skills, talents, and perspectives to the table, all of which are incredibly valuable in a workplace.  

Die CapAbilities-ERG veranstaltete kürzlich eine inspirierende Veranstaltung, um mehr über Neurodiversität am Arbeitsplatz zu sprechen und darüber, wie Unternehmen wie Commvault ihre Mitarbeiter am besten unterstützen können, um ein echtes Zugehörigkeitsgefühl zu schaffen. Unsere Veranstaltung fand in unserer Niederlassung in Großbritannien statt und stand „Vaulters“ aus aller Welt zur virtuellen Teilnahme offen. Wir freuten uns sehr, die GastrednerinHolly Foxcroft, Head of Neurodiversity in Cyber Research and Consulting at Stott and May Consulting.

Holly berichtete von ihrem beruflichen Werdegang und erklärte, warum sie sich so leidenschaftlich für Neurodiversität am Arbeitsplatz einsetzt. Sie erzählte, wie sie ihre Karriere im Bereich Cybersicherheit begann – zunächst in der Personalvermittlung für technische Berufe und durch die Durchführung von Schulungen zum Thema Cybersicherheit an Schulen und Hochschulen. Als bei ihrem Sohn 2014 Autismus diagnostiziert wurde, engagierte sie sich für Neurodiversität in diesem Bereich und erkannte gleichzeitig, dass auch sie selbst neurodivergent ist.

Seitdem widmet Holly ihre Zeit der Erforschung dieses Themas, dem Studium als alleinerziehende Mutter und dem Einsatz für Reformen. In ihrer Position bei Stott and May konzentriert sich Holly auf die Entwicklung von Richtlinien und Mentoring-Programmen zum Thema Neurodiversität in der Arbeitswelt und in der Cybersicherheitsforschung sowie auf Best Practices, Beratung, Schulungen und Consulting. Außerdem setzt sie sich dafür ein, die Unterstützung für neurodivergente Fachkräfte im Bereich Cybersicherheit zu verbessern – nicht nur während des Einstellungsprozesses, sondern auch durch die Herbeiführung eines kulturellen Wandels und den Abbau von Vorurteilen am Arbeitsplatz.

It was incredibly inspiring to hear Holly’s perspective and advice as we honored Neurodiversity Awareness Month together as a global Vaulter community. A key takeaway I learned from the event was that while initial changes may take some effort, the long-term payoff of leveraged neurodiversity is significant. Companies that embrace neurodiversity can yield improved problem-solving, enhanced innovation, increased productivity, a happier workforce, and a competitive marketplace advantage.

I’m proud to be part of a company like Commvault that celebrates our differences and gives us opportunities to have honest and open discussions about important topics like this.

Anlässlich des diesjährigen Earth Day möchte ich einen Blick auf unsere Bemühungen werfen, verantwortungsbewusst mit der Umwelt umzugehen und unsere Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt zu begrenzen.

I’m proud to lead our Environmental Employee Affinity Group (EAG), where we create a space for Vaulters with a passion for environmental sustainability to collaborate and connect. We believe that it is our responsibility, as humans and as a company, to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable world.

Over the past year, we have continued to seek innovative ways to bring awareness to the carbon footprint of data and the role our products and services play in mitigating emissions. We have focused primarily on our newly introduced carbon calculator, which allows customers to estimate the emissions impact of using Commvault’s products and services. Our Carbon Reduction Calculator measures the amount of disk storage and energy consumption required before and after deduplication and compression, as delivered by Commvault, and presents this information in terms of more relatable equivalent values such as the number of barrels of oil consumed, number of smartphones charged, and number of passenger vehicles that it could have powered.

We’ll share more on our commitment to sustainability in the coming months in our 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, so stay tuned.
