Sanjay Mirchandani

Sanjay Mirchandani has been President & Chief Executive Officer of Commvault since 2019. In that time Sanjay has transformed the company into a cyber resilience leader that’s trusted by enterprises around the world to keep their data and applications safe, secure, protected, and recoverable.

Under Mirchandani’s leadership, the company has also transformed its business model, partner ecosystem, and go-to-market execution. This, combined with an industry-leading cyber resilience platform and an always-on approach to innovation has turned Commvault into a high-growth, highly profitable company.

Mirchandani has been focused on helping customers solve hard problems, investing nearly $1B in R&D. He incubated and launched a dynamic, scalable SaaS business, which today is one of the fastest growing offerings in the industry. And he’s extended the company’s breadth and depth of cloud-first offerings through acquisitions like Appranix and Clumio.

Prior to joining Commvault, Mirchandani was the CEO of Puppet, a leading open-source IT infrastructure and automation company, where he grew the company’s user base to more than 40,000 companies, including 75 percent of the Fortune 100. He also held senior leadership positions at VMware, EMC, and Microsoft.

Mirchandani earned his bachelor’s from Drew University and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI).
