Ensuring availability of SAP HANA ERP data

JSC August is the largest Russian producer of chemical protection and pesticide products. Founded in 1990 and growing dramatically ever since, it is now one of the world’s top ten producers of chemical plant protection products. JSC August operates several production sites in Russa and Belarus.

JSC August deployed SAP HANA for its ERP processes back in 2017 – with good results. But it wasn’t easy. In fact, the company had to build the infrastructure for SAP HANA from scratch, including the local area network, computing power, SAN storage, and backup. A flexible, fully compatible data protection solution was an obvious necessity right from the start.

After evaluating various vendors, JSC August implemented the first Fujitsu ETERNUS CS200c appliance with pre-installed Commvault Complete Data Protection software. Two years later, the company installed the second Fujitsu appliance due to the infrastructure growth.

Instant recovery of data minimizes disruption to business operations

With the Fujitsu ETERNUS CS200c appliances and Commvault software fully deployed, Kalyadin and his teams are able to complete backup operations in less than 1.5 hours and restore the full SAP HANA database in less than 50 minutes. This level of efficiency allows IT staff to focus on more strategic tasks for the business.

After implementing Commvault Complete Data Protection, JSC August gained a stable and reliable solution to instantly recover lost files and move data between SAP landscapes with no inconvenience to users or disruption of business operations.

Fast and easy deployment

Fujitsu consultants configured and installed the first ETERNUS CS200c appliance with Commvault Complete Data Protection based on JSC August’s business requirements. Kalyadin and his team also built the virtualized infrastructure simultaneously while monitoring the installation process. The entire implementation was completed in just a few days, with only 1.5 days needed to install Commvault software.

With the growth of SAP infrastructure, JSC August deployed the second Fujitsu appliance on their own two years after the first deployment. It took just a few hours to complete the installation.

After the implementation, Fujitsu provided continuous technical support to JSC August. The IT department can now manage and support daily operation of the appliances and the Commvault data protection solution without any difficulties.

As a result of this successful deployment, JSC August expanded its backup data volume and purchased another 32TB disk space for storing backup copies in the Fujitsu appliances.
