Product Manager, Virtual Machine Platforms
The Opportunity
We are seeking a technically strong Product Manager to contribute to our Virtual Machine platform data protection and recovery portfolio across enterprise virtualization environments. This role requires solid working knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware (a Broadcom company) vSphere / VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V, OpenStack, or similar enterprise-class hypervisors.
You will support the strategy and drive execution for protecting mission-critical virtualized workloads, contributing to resilient, scalable, and cyber-hardened recovery solutions across private cloud, hybrid cloud, and hyperconverged infrastructures.
What you'll do
- Contribute to product strategy and roadmap for Virtual Machine data protection across enterprise hypervisor platforms
- Define product requirements informed by working knowledge of hypervisor architectures, VM snapshot mechanisms, change block tracking (CBT), storage integration, and cluster-level high availability
- Working experience with at least one major virtualization platform (VMware vSphere / VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Hyper-V, OpenStack, or similar enterprise platforms)
- Support protection strategy design for virtualized environments including multi-cluster and hybrid cloud deployments
- Collaborate with Engineering in architecture reviews, API design discussions, and performance planning
- Participate in validation efforts using lab environments, proof-of-concepts, and customer production virtualization stacks
- Contribute to defining performance, RPO, and RTO SLAs for VM backup and recovery across diverse storage backends
- Support advanced resiliency use cases including ransomware recovery, immutable backups, air-gapped architectures, and rapid mass VM restore
- Assist in technical sales engagements, competitive positioning, and field enablement leveraging virtualization platform knowledge
Who you are
- 3+ years of product management or equivalent technical experience in virtualization, infrastructure platforms, or data protection
- Working experience with at least one enterprise virtualization platform (VMware vSphere / VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Nutanix, Hyper-V, OpenStack, or similar)
- Exposure to virtualization environments spanning multiple clusters or datacenters
- Solid understanding of VM lifecycle management, snapshot technologies, change block tracking, clustering, HA/DRS concepts, and hypervisor storage integration
- Familiarity with common storage technologies used with virtualization platforms (SAN, NAS, vSAN, HCI architectures, iSCSI, NFS, Fibre Channel)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams on architectural discussions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to technical stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to backup and disaster recovery architectures for virtualized environments
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments spanning on-prem virtualization and public cloud IaaS
- Awareness of Kubernetes-based virtualization extensions (e.g., Tanzu, OpenShift Virtualization)
- Experience working with hypervisor vendor ecosystems or OEM/cloud alliances
- Experience in a data protection vendor organization
- MBA or advanced degree is a plus
