While the NHL lockout may have delayed the start of Commvault's Hockey Helping Kids Program this year, we're now positioned to skate into the busiest season we've had since we started this program 11 years ago. We've locked down our schedule and we've even managed to book some serious rivalry games around the country as featured events in our hockey schedule.
Our season kicked off at the Cedar Park Center in Cedar Park, TX on Tuesday, February 12 with the AHL in-state rivalry between the Texas Stars and the Houston Aeros. The money raised at this event benefits the Autism Society of Austin, TX.
The Commvault team plays closer to home at our next event at the Nassau Coliseum, on Thursday, March 7th. Commvault will square off against Muller Insurance right after the NHL game between New York rivals — the Rangers and the Islanders. The Long Island Chapter of Autism Speaks is the designated charity for this evening's event.
Game 3 takes us on the road to the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO, on Tuesday, March 12th. We'll raise money for Front Range Hippotherapy Group while watching the Edmonton Oilers take on the Colorado Avalanche.
A unique twist to our schedule comes on Thursday and Friday, March 21st and 22nd in the Boston Garden. On Thursday, we'll have our JV Game and Commvault varsity game against former Stanley Cup Champion and NY Ranger, Brian Leetch and a number of local USA Women's Hockey Team Olympic Gold Medalists. Our dinner event on Friday will raise money for Celebrities for Charity and the Courageous Sailing Center of Boston while we sit glued to the intense NCAA Division-I Hockey East Semi-Finals.
Then we'll return "home" once again for our biggest event of the season at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday, April 16th. All proceeds raised that evening will benefit the Philadelphia PowerPlay and Temple University. The evening's main event will be the game between longtime NHL rivals, the New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Our season ends one week later on Tuesday, April 23rd at the XCel Energy Center in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Wild challenge current Stanley Cup Champions the LA Kings, while Commvault plays the current USA Women's National Team, Minnesota Whitecaps, along with a few other special guests.
We're excited about this year's schedule and ready to do battle with some formidable foes while we raise much-needed funds for some fantastic, well-deserving children's charities. For more information, visit the Commvault's Hockey Helping Kids site.
