It’s hard to believe a week has passed since VMworld, and to be honest, we needed the full week to recover and digest everything that went on during the show. To say this was Commvault’s best VMworld to date would be an understatement, and we’re thrilled to see the positive feedback from others start to roll in, including this great mention from CRN’s Kevin McLaughlin and a positive blurb from Forbes’ Justin Warren. It’s this type of external validation from key influencers that actually inspired me to share my own personal thoughts from the show and glad to see others sharing similar opinions.
As Kevin and Justin noticed, we’ve been working very hard to bring a fresh, hip attitude to information management. Through the release of our new logo this past spring and a sneak peek of our rebrand unveiled at Microsoft Ignite in May, we had high hopes heading into VMworld as it would be our first official unveiling of a new Commvault. How did we do this? Here are some highlights from VMworld:
Educate and entertain
We all know standing in line at a show booth can be mundane, so we took a page from Disney (the experts at entertaining people in theme park lines) and from the TV show The Big Bang Theory (yes, you read that right), and created humorous and educational videos for our booth visitors to watch while they waited to chat with our sales and support teams. Think you can’t add a little wit to protecting virtual machines? Think again. You can check out these new videos here, here and here, and feel free to share via your own social channels.
Survey says DR in the Cloud!
Continuing our booth engagement, we asked visitors to the Commvault booth – what issues were keeping them up at night? The majority of survey participants (59 percent) told us that DR in the cloud is the top data management issue for their business, with 18 percent citing workload portability. Fourteen and 9 percent agreed that minimizing the risk of cloud adoption and efficiently moving data to the cloud are top data management priorities, respectively. These findings align with everything we’ve been talking about at Commvault recently, which is probably why our booth was so packed at the show.
In case you missed us…
In case you didn’t make it to VMworld, here’s a video recap of day 2 at the show that we’ve been sharing with our employees to get them excited about our new look and feel and share what happened at the show. The new Commvault brand will be continuing its fall tour around the globe, with upcoming stops at AWS re:Invent, NetApp Insight and VMworld Europe in Barcelona. VMworld wasn’t the last you’ll be seeing us, and hope that you’ll be able to see us at an upcoming show. You can also check us out at Commvault.com. We’re excited we’re bringing a fresh perspective to data protection and information management.
