Helping customers overcome backup and recovery challenges has been one of Commvault’s core strengths for almost 20 years. That’s what we’re known for and that’s what people typically think about when they hear our company’s name. But that’s just the beginning of why people actually buy our Simpana platform. It became clear to us years ago that companies need more than just data protection. What we hear from most companies is that they want a comprehensive solution that eliminates storage waste, improves reliability and operations, reduces risk and gives users fast, self-service access to data. Since then, we’ve been on a journey to extend our innovation to beyond backup to help customers solve true information management challenges with integrated, advanced solutions for eDiscovery, search, compliance and intelligent archiving.

We’re not alone when it comes to acknowledging that the market needs a 'fix.' However, we ARE alone in our approach. Other vendors tend to offer point solutions that attempt to tackle one problem. Others offer a host of different products in their portfolio – typically a jumble of technologies that exacerbate the problem, create more data silos, increase costs and add complexity. Their answer is 'buy two more of these and call me in the morning.'

That’s why we believe our approach is unique because we aim to solve these problems with a single product platform called Simpana 10. This strategy lays the foundation for more extensive intelligence and includes tight integration with wider-reaching information management capabilities that are the most cost and risk averse in the industry today.

It’s because of this approach and the hard work put in by our employees that I’m thrilled to announce that Commvault has been recognized twice in as many weeks for solutions that help customers turn archived information into strategic business assets.

Leading analyst firms are recognizing the value of the singular software platform approach to info governance. For the first time, our Simpana 10 software has been named to the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner Inc.'s Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving.

Additionally, Commvault was just named a 'Champion' in Info-Tech Research Group’s Content and Email Archive Vendor Landscape.

Our respective rankings in these reports, along with our recent designations in Gartner’s 2013 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup/Recovery Software and Info-Tech’s Vendor Landscapes on Virtual Backup Software and Backup Software for Heterogeneous Environments, reinforce our fundamental approach to solving our customers’ backup, recovery and archiving problems. We believe these great honors validate our vision that a unified approach to data and information management is the most efficient, cost-effective solution for our customers.

This was our vision and we’ve architected Simpana software to combine backup and archive in a common platform because we believe it’s the most cost effective solution for customers. However, unlike our competitors who build product sets by way of multiple acquisitions, Commvault has done this 100 percent organically.

Our customers say our integrated solution not only maximizes their investments in hardware, software and staffing, but it also allows them to extract more value out of the data their business creates every day.

For governance, risk and compliance, Simpana software answers the growing need for a technology platform that can support the ever-evolving Information Management landscape.

Regardless of the challenge – whether it’s backup and recovery, archiving, Edge (desktop/laptop) protection, replication or disaster recovery – our end goal is to allow you to gain greater insight into information so you can use it strategically to make critical business decisions, while reducing cost and risk for the enterprise.

I thank our customers for being forward-thinkers, for looking beyond the old ways of doing things and, most important, for trusting in our ability to help them solve their data protection and information archiving challenges now and in the future.
